Bay Area Cabaret recently presented the return of Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Stacey Kent to the Venetian Room with her five-piece band for the first time since her two sold-out shows in 2015.
As part of a triumphant world tour, the platinum-selling artist celebrated the release of her 11th album, I Know I Dream: The Orchestral Sessions.
This beautiful collection of songs, arranged by Tommy Laurence, includes Bossa Nova classics, Chansons, American Standards, as well as original songs from Stacey’s husband, the saxophonist, composer and arranger Jim Tomlinson, alongside his lyricist partners the award-winning novelist, Nobel Prize-winning lyricist Kazuo Ishiguro, Portuguese poet, Antonio Ladeira, and Nashville-based Cliff Goldmacher with whom Jim composed the title track. Even in an expanded orchestral landscape, Stacey and her group preserved their remarkable and instantly recognizable sense of intimacy and delicacy.
There are plenty of more opportunities to catch Cabaret at the Fairmont:
On March 11, 2018, Tony-nominated Broadway star Liz Callaway (Miss Saigon, Baby, Cats, Anastasia) will present an evening of songs from her extensive Broadway career, her six solo albums, and most requested fan favorites. Bay Area Cabaret’s Season Finale on April 29, 2018 will feature the highly anticipated return of internationally-acclaimed vocal jazz trio The Puppini Sisters, in their first U.S. appearance since their two sold-out shows with Bay Area Cabaret in 2016.
Now in its 14th season of presenting world-renowned Broadway, pop and jazz vocalists. Having presented cabaret seasons in a variety of elegant showrooms, Bay Area Cabaret found a permanent home in 2010 when it was invited to reopen the Fairmont San Francisco’s historic Venetian Room, which had been dark as an entertainment venue for over 21 years.
